Day Twenty-Six - Trust in the Process

I pulled it off. I saved enough money for the down payment on that house!

The house I had stopped to look at while walking my dog was becoming our home. After all those days and nights of working, we were finally moving out of that small one-bedroom apartment. My boys would have room, and I had accomplished something that once felt so far away.

It felt amazing. But I was scared, too. This was a big responsibility, and there was still so much to figure out.

Then my boyfriend said, “Why don’t we move in together? I’ll pay you rent.”

I thought to myself, we’re together all the time anyway. We already help each other with the children. What a great idea!

And besides, how hard could it be to have seven kids in one house?

Well, there was plenty to learn!

I loved him and his children, and he stepped in to help me with mine. We both needed support, and somehow, together, we made it work.

We all lived under one roof for many years. And yes, there were challenges—lots of them. Bringing two families together doesn’t mean everything falls perfectly into place just because you love each other.

But at that time, our love was stronger than the obstacles we faced.

I had worked so hard to buy a home for my boys. Now that home held all of us, figuring out life together.

Trusting the process didn’t mean I wasn’t afraid. It meant taking the next step, even when I didn’t know exactly how everything would work out.
