Thirty-One - A Surprise at Disney World

A few days into our Disney World trip.

We were talking when he asked where I was. Then came the surprise: he had flown down to see me and my boys!

Now, that took some nerve! But it was romantic and daring, too.

He spent the rest of the week with us, and we had so much fun. My four boys drove him crazy with rides and running around, but he fit right in.

I had gone to Florida to clear my head. Now I had even more to think about.

I was falling for him, even though I hadn’t wanted this to happen.

But the problems at home were there before him I wasn’t happy. The man I lived with had no intention of marrying me, and the friction with the children was getting worse.

When I got home, I knew we needed to talk about going our separate ways. Whatever happened with Nick, I couldn’t keep living unhappily.

That conversation led to a difficult breakup. Sometimes you see a different side of someone when you’re separating. Even though the house was mine, sorting everything out didn’t go smoothly.

But I got through it.

Now it was me and my boys in our home, and I kept working and moving forward.

I didn’t know what would happen next, but I had finally been honest about what wasn’t working.
