Day Thirty-Six - Finding Something of My Own

My fibromyalgia was flaring up again, and with everything happening at home, I felt worn down.

I started researching CBD, looking for something that might help with my pain. That search led me to open CBD Live Natural and Custom Candle Company.

I found some relief with CBD, and these new businesses gave me something positive to focus on. Creating, learning, and building brought moments of happiness into a difficult time.

But no matter what I accomplished, he found ways to make me feel like I wasn’t smart enough or pretty enough.

Looking back, it felt like keeping me unsure of myself was his way of keeping me small.

And now that I had other things to do, the tension got worse.

I wanted him to have something he enjoyed, too. He was talented at woodworking, so I encouraged him.

“Why don’t you do the woodwork you love? You’re really good at it.”

I helped him with business cards, helped with his shop, and helped him get set up. And he took off—making gorgeous tables and displays. His work really was beautiful.

But I began noticing something that hurt.

Everything I built was treated as something we shared. Everything he built belonged to him. His business. His money.

What I had was ours. What he had was his.

I had supported him because I wanted us both to succeed. But I wasn’t feeling that same support coming back to me.

Between the criticism and the unequal expectations, I was starting to see our relationship more clearly.

I wanted a marriage where we could both grow—and where my efforts, my dreams, and my feelings mattered, too.
