Day Nine - From Panic to Power

The journey continued. I thought I had married someone who would make me feel protected, safe, and secure. I soon realized I had married a street man, and with him, every day seemed to bring another story, another problem, and another struggle.

I left twice, hoping he would finally get his life together. Each time, he promised he would change, and like many wives who desperately want their marriage and family to work, I believed him and went back.

Then I became pregnant with my second son.

This pregnancy was different. I became very sick and contracted chickenpox, something I had never had before. The doctors couldn’t guarantee that my baby would be okay and even suggested that I consider ending the pregnancy.

But something inside me said no.

I held tightly to my faith in God and prayed constantly to Saint Anthony. I prayed for my unborn baby, asking God to protect him and bring him safely into this world.

And He did.

I named my son Anthony in honor of Saint Anthony.

Against all the fear, uncertainty, and warnings, my beautiful baby boy was born healthy.

Sometimes faith is all you have to hold onto—and sometimes, it carries you through the impossible.

From panic, fear, and uncertainty… my faith gave me power.
